using a old drive on a new motherboard

here it is .
in oct i did build a new computer .drr2 but now i like to up grade to drr3 .
this is the board[ASUS M5A88-M AM3+ AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0] now in my drr2 i have a 750 brand new hard drive .
so my question is .is it possible to erase every thing on it and use it with my new board .
you all know that the price on hard drive did double in price lately.so i am trying to save some money here .

yes i did build 3 branb new pc in oct .i did build 2 of them [drr3] and one drr2 using biostar mother board .but i hate biostar board because i cant not put the computer to sleep with any biostar board ..i have 2 of them .with asus board sleep mode with no problem .
yes i will buy the new board .new ram .cpu .only the drive in my drrr2 i like to use again .a 750 now is at least 160.00 for it .ans a wd black 750 is 199.99 wow .cant not pay that .
the biostar board only hibernate .now hibernate you have to retart using the power botton on the case and to the microsoft and welcome screen all over again .
sleep mode one click on the key board and you are back were you left.

YES... When you boot off an operating system cd/dvd you have the option to delete partitions and format them before you start the install.

so all i have to do when i put vista cd in is i choose delete and then format it .so my best bet will be do delete every thing right

now i will have to call microsoft to use my key again .
well i get key's for 35.00 .
there is a lot of vista key running out there .
i sold my w 7 .cd.hard drive .board .ram .all for 80.00 .
hated w 7 any way .but it not a good way to make money i tell you that .lol

thank .i will check and see what cpu i have in my ddr2 .i thing i have a 260 regor in there .
if so i will not have to buy one .
if i don't then i could get the 750 wd black for 159.99 .gren is not to good .blue is medium not bad .but black is the best of the best
then if i sell the ddr2 board .the ram and hd drive all in one i should get 100.00 for all .
my 4 gb ram in that ddr2 cust 99.99 for 2 stick [5-5-5-15] .
but i still wil have delete what i have in that drive .
or what if i delete all my book mark [banking.credit card info .etc.etc.in the recycle bin .then delete the recycle bin .is that be ok
