Hide extensions for known file types (Show)
I can't get win 7 to save Show extensions for known file types. Every now and then I have to reset to show. It's a little annoying!
Any way to fix this once and for all?
Thanks for any and all help.

Have you tried toggling the setting a couple of times? Make sure you click the OK button after doing so.

It might be worth doing a scan with Malwarebytes, it is just possible that something malicious is resetting things:
Malwarebytes

Sorry it took so long replying. I'm in a area (working) no phone,tv,or internet.
Malwarebytes was clean, Superantispyware found some cookies, Spywareblaster is up to date.

Fire up the Registry Editor, and navigate to:
HK_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advance\Folder\Hidden|SHOWALL
Then set "CheckedValue" to a value of 1. See if that will make it stick.

I had this issue on two of my computers. Never found a "cure" for this. Eventually, I formatted (not for this reason) and hopefully I don't get it back !
The Computer messed up my life, did it yours too
