[RESOLVED] Out of memory
Happy Labor Day!
Dell Dimension 4600, P4, 2.4ghz, 1 gig ram. XP Pro SP3 -all updates.
I know this may no be XP specific, but related to the running of my favorite golf game, Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Challenge.
While playing this morning I got an 'Out of Memory' dialogue box pop up. Clicking 'OK' shut the program down.
This has never happened before and I don't understand why it happened.
I ran the UBC memory test and there were no problems found.
My virtual memory page is set at 1536mb minimum and 3072mb maximum.
Just want to hear from you guys that it is probably not an XP issue.
Thnaks in advance.
Dave

Have you tried letting the system handle the size?
How much free space do you have on the hard drive where your virtual memory page is residing?

Im on 98se and sometimes i get an OUT OF MEMORY error also on some apps...
Doesnt this mean the SWAP file isnt being accessed like it should?? (Swap file gives it the added memory (RAM) the computer needs (OR I THOUGHT IT DID))

Spyware Dr.
No I have not..... there is 15gig of free space.
Dude111 you are correct.
Shinma
Interesting link. I will attempt to do that if the problem continues.
I am becoming suspicious of the 'course' file I am playing in the game.
The error appeared at the exact same keystroke while playing. ( After the 12th hole I press the 'C' key to 'continue' on to the next hole)
So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. The error happened again at the exact same spot for the third time.
So I played another course and did not have any problems.
Tomorrow I will D/L a new copy of the course and try it again and see what happens.
If that doesn't work, I will look into Shinma's suggestion.

Well it seems as though my suspicions are correct for the time being.
After installing a new copy of the course file, I received no errors.
My personal conclusion is this was a software problem.
Moderator if you want to move this to the software forum.....
Thanks to everyone again!
