Network Traffic Routing Question
I have a wireless router connected to a DSL modem and the internet. I have a wireless Access Point downstairs to which I have the TV and DVD player connected to allow wifi access to the router and ultimately Netflix. I am planning on buying a Silcon Dust HDHomerun Prime (Cable card TV tuner) to connect via cat5e cable to the wireless access point. I am going to connect a HTPC via cat5e cable to the same wireless access point.
My question is how does the vidoe stream from the HDHomerun route to the HTPC over the network. Since both are connected to the wireless access point via cat5e cable, does the network traffic between the two devices take place only through the access point - effectively all hard wire. Or, does the traffic go from the HDHomerun to the access point, wifi to the router, wifi back from router to access point and then to HTPC?
Thanks for your help for this network noob.
If life was simple then it would be no fun.

The access point should act as a switch, and so the traffic would flow from the cable card to the HTPC only via the access point. Tjhe only traffic from the router, presuming it is set to be a DHCP server, would be that to acquire an IP address, and any other "housekeeping" type traffic.
Nick.

Thanks SuperSparks. I suspected that was the case, but everytime I assume something about networking or computers, I find out just how big a noob I am.
