Finding downloaded emails
I'm rehabbing a Vostro laptop for a lodge brother and have everything ready to go, with one remaining item on his wish list: he asked me to copy his downloaded emails onto a flash drive for him, since he doesn't know what to look for or where to look.
Well, that makes two of us. I never had email so important it was worth saving, nor have I ever had anyone ask me to round up mail for them. Is it all one type of file no matter the source? Is there a default location it would get saved to, such as Documents? Better yet, is there a small .bat file or third-party app that would do a round-up search with one click?
Appreciate any help provided.

Which email app is the person using...
Outlook on Vista for example sotes the pst files here:
C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
Live Mail on Vista:
C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsMail
On XP - most would be:
C:\Docs and Settings\UserName\Local
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Heidy heidy ho, Steverino! ( I always wanted to say that! )
The laptop has XP Pro w/SP3 and all updates. I found a bunch of .htm files, which I'm copying. Appears to have file folders corresponding to some of the .htm files as well. He seems to have used various email addresses with different browsers (IE8, Safari, Firefox).

Was he also using Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, or other e-mail client software? I'd at least check for Outlook Express .dbx files and any .wab or .pst files (Outlook) also. Make sure any search for these file extensions includes Hidden and System files.

Quick update - I found a few of the .wab and .pst files, and about a dozen .dbx files which I moved over to a removable drive along with his .htm files from My Documents. A quick browse through the other likely storage folders showed nothing major.
Thanks again for the pointers.
