AMD Vision compared to Intel processor speeds?

I'm looking at a 1 day ad for a Sony laptop at $380 and all it says is AMD Vision. I would like the speed of an Intel i5 and higher in the processor. When I look at the laptop specs in the store, what AMD processor would be equal or higher then a Intel i5. Also, I will not be doing any gaming on this...mainly email and the internet.

I would think it would be an A4 or A6.

Basically the A4 is dual core and the A6 is quad core.

So the A6 would be like a Intel i5 in core design. Both being quads.

Thanks, that answers my question. I doubt this has an A6 in it at that price. I'll take a look in the store and see.

AMD Vision is a marketing term from AMD. AMD Vision categorizes personal computer laptops into four categories, with increasing capability. AMD also has a separate "Vision Pro" marketing term, for desktops and notebooks for office use.[1]

The categories are "Vision", "Vision Premium", "Vision Ultimate", and "Vision Black", with abilities increasing. For each step up, there are a number of additional tasks of which the computer should be capable. For example, "Vision Premium" has the ability "Play games", while "Vision Ultimate" can "Play graphics-rich collaborative online games".

Some of the divisions made in the classifications seem dubious. For example, the basic "Vision" should be capable of watching DVDs, while "Vision Premium" can "Convert CD to MP3s". But any general-purpose personal computer capable of playing a DVD is also perfectly capable of converting CD to MP3s. So adding "Convert CD to MP3s" to "Vision Premium" instead of "Vision" is purely for marketing, without basis in technical reality.

The official AMD Vision site does not seem to publish a list of concrete minimum specifications for the different categories.
