ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT
Win and I use a wired Router with my ISP service and I am the sole user of this computer; should I use something other than Administrator when booting my computer. If not, then is it necessary to have a password? As always, TIA.

Generally it's safer to not use an Admin acc't when using Windows for everyday purposes. The user acc'ts don't have as many privileges so if you were to accidentally download or get infected by drive-by malware it would/could be more difficult for it to auto install itself on the computer.
As far as passwords go if no one else ever has access to the computer then a password would not accomplish much of anything.

Thanks fink for verifying what I thought but was not quiet sure about. I recently read an article about this mater and thought I would inquire here. Without a password, windows would load without user help. Right? .

The reason I have a password is because of my lan. Yes I do transfer files from computer to computer.

I surf as a limited user and run as an admin for other program usage. I use login passwords but truthfully, they offer little security...

Thanks to all who have responded. I am having difficulty choosing a standard or any type of user account other than my Administrator account. What am I missing?

Did you set up a second user?
That is the one we restrict. Leave your present one alone or you will be doing a clean install.

Then change the user account type.

And you will see this.

OK, Train I have a second user in UAC, named it but I do not get the second window your post shows. Each time I go into UAC to see what I did, Administrator picture icon shows but nothing more. Should the named Standard user be the default and shown without having to click "manage" or how does Win7 choose which of the two is to be used when surfing; etc. Right now, I do not know if I am using the standard user account or the Admin. Maybe I don't need to worry about that--I don't really know. Should the Standard user be "limited" in what it can do?
