SOLUTO--an interesting read
http://www.soluto.com/Home/ I have just read about this free but beta software. It seems to offer help for our slowed down computers It comes with high recommendations.

It does seem to have a good rep, and it just so happens that I have a Win7 install here that is taking a full 5 minutes to boot up, though it behaves normally enough when it finally gets to the desktop. I think I'll give that a go and let you all know how I get on with it.
Nick.

I've actually been using (testing) it on my Acer laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit since March 13, 2011. (The date on the C:\Program Files\Soluto folder).
From completely powered off to viewing http://news.google.com in 67 seconds . . . so far. Still working on it.

Must be something to do with that 'Vista' <shudder> thing you've got there.

I tried it and it saved me about 2 seconds. Not worth the annoying flippy thing on the bottom of my screen. I uninstalled it and manually stopped the one program it suggested and my boot time is now about 2 seconds faster LOL.
FWIW my boot time has always been around 45 seconds so there really wasn't much to "fix" anyway.

Started at over 2 minutes here. Currently got it down to 48 seconds from power On to Desktop . . . then add another 9 seconds to be online and viewing the latest Google News. (57 seconds total).
(BTW, don't know what I did but the 'flippy corner thing' no longer appears on bootup. Soluto is running in Task Manager Processes though).

After uninstall Soluto leaves a folder in C:\program data with a lot of leftover files and an empty folder ins C:\program files all of which can be manually deleted.
