Resolved [RESOLVED] Free Program to automatically and Show JPG pix one after another in a directory

I am looking for a free program to automatically go thru a directory (I specify as a parameter) and to display (on a full screen) all JPG files one by one in that directory. If the program allows me to specify the duration of the display each file, it is even better.

    Any suggestion ?

Thanks to you all good people here.

Do you have any programming experience at all? Visual Studio Express editions are free, and a program such as you describe would not be a difficult first project really. Our sister site here could give you as much help as you need:

    Irfanview, in slideshow mode?

Fairly basic, you can set the pause period between pics, but its set that way for all pics.

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.

Thanks, General and Sparks. IrfanView does the job I want.

Also, Sparks, where can I find good VB on self-tutorials for a beginner? Please recommend some locations. I know programming (Assembler for IBM Mainframes, and the dinasaur languages such as PL/1 and COBOL, and also for the IBM i-Series - those were historical). But when it comes to PC/Windows, I am a real rookie !

    Thanks again.

IrfanView is ok but IMO, unless you need to use some of the oddball file formats it supports, most everything else typical users want/need can be found with free FastStone Image Viewer http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm It's my go to image app (used to be IrfanView) and it can do some amazing things. The least of which is it is soooo much easier than IrfanView because of it's excellent GUI...

Make that two for FastStone, ex-irfanview user. Train also uses FastStone. Plus FastStone reads a bunch more file extensions than irfanview did.
