    ethernet driver not installing

xfx nForce 750a SLI ethernet driver

Chris had to wipe his hard drive and reinstall everything. For some reason it keeps asking for the ethernet driver and it doesn't seem to be installing for him from the XFX nForce 750a SLI Motherboard installation CD. Thus he can't get on the internet. I can't seem to put the right words in, to get a driver for him. I get everything but the ethernet driver. Can someone help? Where do I go?

Can't figure out why it won't install from the motherboard installation cd. It has done so several previous times.

    If applicable,
After installation of Windows XP, install Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3.
Then attempt installation of the nVIDIA chipset drivers and LAN...
    Cheers.

Midknyte, he downloaded the suggested and there is no ethernet driver in the download. All the others are there but the one needed. This is his board
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3930721 The drawing shows it as a gigabit lan port.

Shinma, He can't get online with his computer, but I did have XP SP3 burned to a cd so he installed it from cd but that hasn't helped.

He thought about just installing the seperate network card he has but has no pci slot to put it in.

He had been attacked and was infected with a trojan and something else that Avira could not fix and that was the reason he formated and did the clean install to begin with. In fact he did it a second time, thinking that something got corrupted when he started having the problem. He said he wiped the partition and did the clean install.

I gotta go to work now so I will leave it open for him to check if anything else is posted.

That's strange. The complete chipset package includes the ethernet driver, unless XFX used a different ethernet chip. Don't see why they would, but it's possible.

Did you try the XFX website? It requires a login.
    http://xfxforce.com/en-us/Help/Support.aspx

I can't look at the link right now due to content filtering.

    According to a review,
The XFX nForce 750a SLI (MD-A72P-7509) mobo is listed as using Marvell 88E8056 chip for network.

Did you install the chipset drivers? If not, try installing those and see if that sorts things out.

Super Sparks: He did install the chipset drivers (twice) and it installed all but the network drivers.

Device manager shows a yellow astris thingy and says drivers not installed. He uninstalled it and let windows reinstall but that didn't work.

I was thinking maybe the trojan or whatever it was that he had, of course he didn't write it down, had wiped it out. In the past, several years ago, I had a virus or something destroy a 56k modem so I infer that it could wipe out a ethernet, I'm confused. Mine only says Network adapters VIA compatible fast ethernet with a microsoft driver. I wish I had actually seen his device driver but he unplugged it and hooked up the win7 computer for now.

    (edit)
Device manager shows: other, ethernet controler with yellow astris. Code 28 driver not installed. Reinstall driver. Assuming it should be on the cd with the chipset drivers, why won't windows find it on the cd. As I stated he uninstalled it completely then let windows reinstall, but it didn't. (end edit)

Shinma: Where would that driver be? He said he'd be willing to try it.

If you don't want to try the XFX support site, just google for the Marvell 88E8056 drivers.

I think the driver is not installing because the ethernet itself died. Device manager says not operational and I think it means it. He will have to wait till he can get the one that will install on the mobo or some other . Thanks for the help. I'm not sure which way he will go.
