Nevermind guys - I found the fix and it is here in case it helps someone else
Start>Run> Type the following & click ok
%SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\WUAUENG.DLL
Note that command should all be on one line and there's a space after EXE
I have several updates that are downloading now.
Running WIN 7 Home, DSL, IE, AV & Firewall installed.
