When rebooting - an error is coming up in a grey box....not sure of the exact letters, as I didn't have a pen handy, but something like "ccsvchst" something-or-other will not shut down properly....have to click end now and then it doesn't work.

Restart computer and try to shut it down again.
Have a pen ready this time, so I know what the error is.

The code is ccSvcHst Sorry about that! The computer is faster now....he has a bunch of photos on it and will try deleting them/printing off to free up some space and buy some more memory. I think it's just time for a new one Thank you very much for all of your help!!!!
