Norton 360 scan of aol and yahoo emails

OS= Win XP Home SP3 with Outlook Express 6

I recently purchased and installed Norton 360. Want to use it to scan my email accounts on Yahoo! and AOL. They're both accounts I established a long time ago and do not wish to abandon. However, neither can be scanned directly by Norton 360.

Originally I thought the best way to handle this things was to forward all my incoming emails on Yahoo! and AOL to my new Outlook Express account. Then simply set up Norton 360 to scan the OE6 incoming emails. But I discovered that I would need to pay for an upgraded Yahoo! email account to forward emails, and AOL simply doesn't offer incoming email forwarding.

Plan B is to create an Outlook Express account through my new ISP [SECTV], then access both my Yahoo! and AOL email through it. I've found OE6 setup procedures on the Web that will enable me to do this. But to access Yahoo! I need to download and run something called YPOPs!

Am I on the right track here? I've been hammered over the last few years by viruses and spyware entering through both email accounts. Really need to start scanning them and filtering out the bad stuff.

    Thank you.

I really don't see any particular advantage to what you are proposing - any decent AV ought to kick up a fuss if you access a dodgy email through a web browser, just the same as if you get it through an email client. The real secret to not getting a nasty via email is to never click on any link unless you are 110% certain what it is. And always to keep Windows fully patched via Windows Update.

    I don't entirely trust...

Windows updates. Was using Liveonecare and then MS Essentials for a year and they allowed numerous viruses into my system.

My girlfriend uses AOL and often sends me emails with attachments. My concern is that someone has tapped into her email account many times and may actually send me a virus using her account. I have to open those anyway, therefore I would like to be able to scan them before opening them.

Bottom line is that I want to forward every email from my Yahoo and AOL accounts to Outlook Express. Then I want to set up Norton 360 to scan them automatically.

I am looking for a way to do this free. Do not want to pay for an upgraded Yahoo account simply to have the ability to forward all incoming emails.

All I am asking is if I am on the right track?

YPOPs should do what you need for your Yahoo account.
