    Week signal

There is a Benq laptop and an MSI netbook connecting to the same wireless router. (limited to 512 kbps) in an apartment building i the same room side by side. Router name and model is unknown.
The benq has 5 bars and reasonable internet speed.
The MSI has week signal 1 or 2 bars and very slow internet.
Both use win 7 premium and both have 2 gig of ram.

A perfect example of the difference that a decent aerial (antenna) can make! If you are unable to change the position of either the router or netbook in order to get a better signal, about all you can do is to use a WiFi dongle with a better aerial. If you need to get one, try and get one with a SMA connector, then you can attach a high-gain aerial to it if necessary.

I contacted the manufacturer and they said to update the bios. This netbook is 4 weeks out of the box.
I presume now that it is just a week woreless adapter in the netbook.

I suppose there is no harm in trying. Top be perfectly honest, that sounds like one of their usual BS replies to get you off the phone

Nobody will be more surprised than me if it actually works

    It could be that ...
After the product hit the market, a slew of people start complaining about a particular problem.

The manufacturer hired some engineers. The engineers designed a fix. The manufacturer posted the fix on the web.
If so, wouldn't it be cheaper, (more 'planet friendly'), to simply download and apply this fix than it would be to send the device back to the manufacturer so they can apply this same fix and then return the device back to you?
