    Resolved [RESOLVED] Hotmail and Junk

Today, I have received 60+ junk emails; sorted into my junk mail folder but I can't help but wonder what must be happening. Other hotmail users experiencing any of this. Most of them deal with Doctor 'this' and doctor 'that' and mainly Viagra. I usually only get 5-6 junk emails. (Signs of the economy????)

yep, I get them too. I just delete, delete, delete.....forever. Most of them come from sites you've visited or signed up for such as online gaming sites. Course some just come cause they're fishing. If you ever use/d an unsubscribe form such emails, then they get you...then they know that email is valid and they'll keep sending emails there.

This morning in my Gmail there were 116 in "Junk" and "16" in Trash, which totals 132 in roughly 24-hours. I have seen it well over 300 before.

Also received a whole fist-full of "Junk" snail-mail yesterday as well. (Didn't count 'em). Some days it's just a couple pieces, other days, it's ridiculous.

Why do either fluctuate? Don't know, and don't really care.

It'd be nice if it stopped but, I'm sure that'll never happen. Too many ___holes in the world. "Why?" Simply cuz' it's against the law to shoot 'em.

Thanks for your replies and I sympathize with you. I don't recall visiting any sites out of the ordinary and just wondered why so many junk emails, seemingly all of a sudden. I do recall my browser being diverted twice at some point during this time and had to call on Task Manager to get rid of the takeover attempts.

No biggie. I simply chunk the junk mail in the trash can by the door, or in Gmail, click Select_All > Delete. <-shrug->

You can get infected no matter what sites you visit. On reputable sites though, it's usually not the site's fault. The infections attempt to sneek in via the ads being displayed on the site.

I'm afraid you're not going to find a precise answer for that one. For example, one reason could be because there were more SPAM-spewing botnet computers powered up across the planet yesterday.

Might want to get it checked out in VirtualDr's ICU.
