import address book from OE6 to Outlook 7 or windows live mail 2011
I have assembled a win 7 machine for my friend. How do I import the address book from outlook Express 6 to Outlook 7 or Windows Live Mail 2011 ?
I was able to import all the emails from OE to the new win 7 machine. My friend has made folders in his address book where he keeps different email ids in different folders. He wants to keep those folders intact upon migration. When I do migrate, I get all the emails ids in the contacts folder. If I make folders and copy the ids into them (as there does not seem to be move function), they are still visible in the main contact folder. If I delete from the main contact folder, all ids get deleted from the folder also.

What happens when you re-enter the contact into one of the folders?

I can only copy as there is no move option to the folder. It remains both in the main contact and the "other folder". But, there are half a dozen folders to make. Once I delete from the main contact folder, it gets deleted from the "other folder" as well.

But can't you go to the "other folder" and add a contact?
As you've seen, the import function doesn't like folders....

My friend is a seller at ebay. He sells 1960s blues which are out of production. He has a list of clientele (email ids) formatted into different folders. He has about 3000+ ids.... maybe more .. I did not count
I am even ready to pay for a software which could do this job ?

In summary you will have to first transfer the username.wab file to the new PC and do an Import.

Have you tried this only on Windows Live Mail? Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 should be able to create contacts subfolders. You can export the contacts from Outlook Express 6 one subfolder at a time, then import them into Outlook into the proper subfolder. How many subfolders do you have?

Try this:- In Outlook, export your Contacts into a .CSV file.
- Then, in Windows Live Mail, import your .CSV file.
