    Do you need windows defender?

    I have Kaspersky IS, I also have and use Malwarebytes and superantispyware Pro. I do on-line scans with Bitdefender and housecall at will.

    But I don't like all the updates for defender
    That is if I don't need it...

    With what you have running, Defender serves no purpose. IMO, the only reason to ever have it is for it's real-time alerts. Manual scans are virtually worthless...
