    Win 7 and wifi router/adapters

I have a new Win7 machine, 64 bit home premium version. When I got the machine I tried to use my old Ralink RT61 PCI wireless adapter and it didn't work. I got a new driver which apparently installed, and the device showed up (though greyed out and disabled) on my network map. Attempt to enable it fail. To get online I got a new wireless router called WiFi Ranger and connected it via LAN cable to my ethernet input. That got me connected right away. So now I have the router connecting me to the local wifi (it's my only internet connection, I live in an RV).
The Ralink won't enable. There's no "configure" wizard in its utility and it's just sitting there.
Question 1: do I even need another adapter? Question two: how do I go to the Zero Config or Windows setup for a wi fi device?

    Thanks

I would uninstall the Railink, though it's unlikely to hurt if you do leave it be.

Here's an article on setting up WiFi in Windows 7:
