Resolved [RESOLVED] Unable to pin some shortcuts to taskbar

A few of my windows shortcuts on my desktop will pin to the taskbar but the vast majority will not . Something not right with this feature on my machine? I thought that any shortcut would pin to the taskbar. I do not want to pin to IE. As always, TIA.

If the shortcuts are on your Desktop, then there is no option to pin them. I think that's a bit of an oversight on MS's part You have to find them in the Start menu and pin them from there.

buf--Put the shortcut, or copy, into the Start Menu ( C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs ). You will then be able to right click on that and "Pin to Taskbar".
Even simpler, Shift+Right Click on shortcut. The drop down menu contains "Pin to Taskbar".

Google didn't do much for me dneilson and Nick, I'll have to work on your suggestion. Jim, I tried your remedy also but to no avail--guess it would have been too simple and too easy to do
I am using the Classic Start Menu and I wonder if that may be causing my problem. If so, then I'll just have to accept those "desktop shortcuts" that will pin to the Taskbar and forget the rest. It has been months since I first installed the Classic and I have worked pretty well without this full Taskbar feature. Presently I have 9 shortcuts pinned so I am happy for with those.
Someone suggested I use the free app freelaunchbar.

buf--I am truly surprised that neither suggestion worked. Both work for me. I do not think Classical Start Menu has anything to do with this.

Jim, I should have explained better. I only tried the shift+right click but still, only 1 shortcut (snip) gave me the option of pinning to the taskbar. Perhaps I will look more closely at your start menu suggestion tomorrow.
    Thanks for your additional reply.

OK Jim, I just used your Start Menu and have now pinned those shortcuts I wanted to the Taskbar. Many thanks.
