    buf--Thanks.
Your post raises a question in my mind. Is there a quality difference among the most common flash drives--SanDisk, Corsair, PNY, Lexar, etc?

My first such drive was a Lexor and I still use it from about 4-5 years ago. I have added various sized thumb drive since then and currently have 2 16GB Corsair drives. So far, I have not had one to cause a problem and each of them have "something" on them; just not full. I suppose I have one of each of them, including a SanDisk 256MB that I traded to a nephew years ago by giving him(college student--then)a larger capacity drive. That is my experience and hope this may help you, and others, to make good decisions.
I do not have as much use for them now, largely because my extended family has received some of the info I have stored on them. Yea, I am "overkill" on the subject as to the number of drives I have.
