I wouldn't have had this pegged for a RAM issue at all. It just goes to show how PCs can always surprise you, I suppose.
You could use your spare bits to build Home Theatre PC for when you get your new place - I built one a few months back and it's been wonderfully useful, as well as being a lot cheaper than buying separates

yup, the price of parts and pieces is just sky high these days!
And actually I already have an HTPC ... but I'm sure I'll be able to figure out the spare parts once I get my PC all put back together.
Still not sure it's a memory issue but we'll see as I move forward in the process here.
