    Sony made in China

Three or four years ago I bought a single-disc Sony CD player, for about $100. It was just passable, as far as sound quality and controls convenience. The radio tuner is almost Okay (some stations displayed frequency is slightly off). But the player itself... It plays only one song, of his own choosing, and then stops. If restarted, it plays another one, chosen randomly. The only way around it is to insert a classical music CD - then it plays one symphony which lasts longer then other genres, yet, understandably, we are not always in the mood.
This is forth or fifth Sony gizmo that served only a few years, although I paid a premium Sony price. My wife says this is because all Sony (and other brands as well) are made in China. She literally said: pay whatever price for a product made in Japan or at least, in Taiwan, it will be cheaper then buying Chinese-made devices over and over again. I agree. So far I was not able to find anything not China-made in my local electronics store. To find the country of origin for online sold is virtually impossible.
I am sure it's not just me. How you, guys, deal with it?

Almost everything electronic is made in China, even the (Japanese) Sony stuff, but they're not all defective. I just bought a Memorex single-CD player w/o tuner from MicroCenter for $30, and it's perfect. You should have returned yours while it was still under warranty.

Here are some made in Japan, in quantities as few as 100 !

My search has also produced some used ones for sale.

Anyone know if Japan still makes any electronics, aside from mobos?

Sony quality hasn't been all that good for years , unfortunately. After their music CD's loaded with malware fiasco, I refuse to buy anything from them.

I agree, the problem is with Sony, rather than the country the product is made in. I too stopped being impressed with their products a while ago

That's funny! (it's now second on the list)

Warning to others though, it contains some profanity. A lot actually.

Would have been just as funny without the profanity.

    I did NOT make it.
The piece is brilliantly done. AAMOF, without the profanity, many (Probably including myself?) would have been completely fooled. The not very noticeable clues are &NN (first letter very indistinct) and running subtitles at the bottom margin.
