Resolved [RESOLVED] sysenv.dll shewn missing at startup onwin7 64bit

At startup I a Daemon error message to effect that ' can't start because sysenv.dll is missing reinstall the program ' however all seems to work after I click OK .

This is however an annoying pop up and I would like to hear how I can find the file to reinstall it as requested.

    All help will be appreciated.

    Thanks for responding SuperSparks

So sorry, of course I should have said what machine it was.

Yes it is an Acer Aspire 5732Z which has otherwise run faultlessly for 7 months.. so I guess that this problem is my fault !

From what I could find out, this is a common problem with Acers. Apparently you need to reinstall the "Mylocker" application. If you don't use it, it might be better just to uninstall it.

How do I find ' My Wnilocker ' to reinstal lit ?

I have another Acer, a Travelmate running Vista. If it has the program could I copy it onto a memory stick and install from that ?

I presume it would be on one of the CDs that came with the computer. A friend of mine got an Acer not long ago, and hers came with a whole pile of discs. But I have a feeling that it's probably just the usual junkware that they like to install, so you may be better off by just going to Control Panel>Programs and Features and uninstalling it.

I am in a ' Catch 22 ' situation the program will neither install or uninstall and I still have the popup.

I made the three recovery disks when the computer was new, and would like to use them to find the file. Question, how does the disk present, when started does it show a list of files that I can search through, or does it automatically start a recovery process...not what I need !

If you can answer this I will feel confident about searching for the file

Thanks again for your time on my problem

The recovery discs won't be of any use at all here, I'm afraid. They produce a binary image of the hard drive, and aren't searchable in any useful way. About the only thing I can think of here is to try System Restore, and see if you can roll back to a point before the problem started.

It will not wipe any of your data, images, music. It will remove any programs that were installed since the Restore Point that you roll back to, but you would only need to reinstall again. You will also need to run Windows Update again afterwards too.

I haven't established any restore points on this machine, but will start to do so from now on !

Meanwhile as I don't use Winlocker and can't forsee a need for it though perhaps I will later,
anyway I have deleted Egis inlocker from my startup program and, hopefully for good, the popup disappeared.

As usual I am grateful for your time and the support you have given me, over some years now, as I see you do to all when I read various posts on VirtualDr
