I have the same situation. I run a cornicopia or protection that block refreshing of cookies etc.. webwasher.com zonealarm, inocculateIT and now my new paid for pccillin. I've noticed with pccillin those annoyances are gone after about two or three scans and some online configurations .. breath of fresh air in my surfing and I surf a lot!
More to it than just pccillin.. I removed a few apps in msconfig that helped. but I really have noticed a significant change in surfing because of it's control over the internet. there is a 30 day trial but I just went ahead and bought it.

Had done a deltree on internet folder the night before. And that was the first time I had gone there afterward.
Updated and run it today.

For a while I thought maybe the mysterious TIF index.dat had something to do with it.
I ran a bunch of trials when it happened to me and that wasn't it.
It never happened to me on the new server until v5.4b was loaded. It took 2 days before I could see it on this screen...even though I had screen shots of what most folks saw.
I made sure the machine was totally clean and reloaded...I could watch each file (.gif) load in the status bar and then show up in TIF's...the old files are being served.
Keep in mind it happens during the surge. The server is being pushed. A common practice is to upload files with the same name to overwrite. I think that sets up a condition for random "data recovery"...some folks just get the wrong pointers, when the server is doing all that it can, to meet the demand.
Funny, but at about the time you guys started to see the current page...some forum page files went missing on the same server.
Mach2, because of my skeptism...I receive the file to be loaded to my server...I install it on my machine, run some basic tests, and make sure the GUI and reflists corrolate, then I rename the file to reflect it's version, load that to the server, and update my download index page. All of it should corrolate, that's as safe as I know how to make it.
As far as v5.5 itself goes, I think about 2 million copies have been served, I have not seen a documented error at this time.
