CD/DVD drive is disabled
My computer has been breached and reset so I cannot use CDs or DVD.
I had this problem some time back and it was so simple to fix that I did not write down the process. Can anyone help me with this?

What version of Windows? How do you know it was caused by malware? If it was, the malware must be removed before any fix can be made to the CD/DVD drive issue.

Oldtimer, welcome to Virtual Dr.
I fixed mine throught the link below.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems
But if you have malware problems, as suggested by JDC, you have to get rid of that first before fixing your cd/dvd drive.

I suspect it was a Malware infection because it happened before. I cleaned out the malware but do not remember how to fix the CD/DVD issue. It was very simple and I thought I would remember but my aged memory has failed.
The error code I get is 39 and I am using Windows 7.
Many places want to sell the fix, Regcure being one of them. I have been advised from a reliable source not to download Regcure or any of the other registry cleaners.
Thanks for respondimng.

Did you try the fix I posted? It works for many other problems besides the one stated. My drive just disappeared, and I used the fix on the right side of the page to bring it back.
