Copy old hard drive to new
I know this doesn't seem like a huge problem. I have a new computer (has Win7), but I need to get a fair amount of stuff from my old hard drive (WinXP home) to the new one. Someone want to point me to a diagram that will show me what connections to make and what to do?
Thanks
Wendy

Hook it up inside the computer set as slave, then just copy and paste what need off the old drive. If you don't have an extra connection, you can buy an external enclosure, put the old drive in that and then hook it to the computer via USB. Then just copy and paste or cut and paste, the info off to the new drive.
Programs can't be copied, and you don't want to copy the whole drive because of the ramifications of doing so could cause problems with your new computer.

Or you can use the excellent, built in, Windows Easy Transfer, which you will find in All Programs>Accessories>System Tools. You can use it to copy your files to a memory stick, and external drive, or burn them to DVD.
