    Resolved [RESOLVED] KVM switch

On ebay I see a lot of KVM switches. In need to share a monitor between two desktops. Are there a specific brands of KVM that are better than others?

I use ones made by Belkin and like em alot.
Just make sure you get either the PS2 type or USB type to match the keyboard and mouse. Using converters on the mice doesn't work well.

Compatibility issues is not unusual with KVM switches.
Purchase from a store with good exchange/refund policies.
    Cheers.

I have used my Trendnet TK-400 for about 7 or 8 years.

Just remember, buy the KVM with the cables or they are a very spendy extra.

Are you only sharing the display or do you also want to share keyboard/mouse? If it's only the display and your monitor has 2 inputs, might want to use that instead. If you still want a KVM switch, I'd suggest reading reviews on video quality. I use a KVM switch between my 2 PCs, and I ended up bypassing the video because quality suffered a lot. I just plugged both PCs directly into my monitor and use the KVM switch only for keyboard/mouse.

Make sure too to check the display ports - VGA or DVI - so that you get the correct one.
    My equipment:

Acer Aspire AX3300-U1322 Desktop (sorry didn't build this time!), 4Gb RAM, AMD Athlon II quad core CPU
