Can i upgrade Toshiba satelite 1410-S102??
Hi,
I am having Toshiba satellite 1410-S102 model laptop, it came with 1.6 GHZ celeron, 128 mb DDR ram and it has got 20GB Hard drive, i want to know if i can
Increase its ram as on different sites i have seen it upto 512 mb supportable,
Fine, but can i upgrade its celeron processor with 2.0GHZ Intel original?????
I need expert reviews as i am failed to look for this answer on internet, kindly suggest me as its very cheap for me to upgrade its ram and processor rather than buying some new or used laptop?
I hope i am clear with my question and expecting an expert opinion!
Thankx
Jalal

Getting the ram up to 512 would help a lot. But it generally isn't easy or a good idea to spend a ton of money on a faster cpu.
Your lappy is barely worth $50 to $100 USD and the labor to install a new cpu would probably be higher then that....And the lappy would still only be worth 50 to 100.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

No, unlike on a desktop motherboard, the CPU is soldered in on the vast majority of laptop motherboards.

I see it means i can't upgrade my laptop's processor but tell me with the final wording that how much should i plug the memory as i am now left with only memory upgrade??? it has installed with 128mb ram which is nothing now should i get another memory stick plug to it with 256mb which then collectively makes my lappy to having 384mb of total ram???? or should i get 512mb stick which means i have to throw away this 128mb stick as my lappy at max supports 512mb of ram??????
Kindly, wisely suggest me , as after this i will finally go out to computer market to get it?
Regards
Jalal!

If the board supports up to 512 and there are two slots, that would be 2 256MB stick.
I wouldn't spend that much $$ on a machine that old. Old ram can be expensive.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 256MB per slot.*
