Sounds like your screen isn't refreshing. Does hitting F5 do te same as clicking drafts.

There are some Reading Pane settings in File>Options>Advanced. Try messing around with those.

Curiously, I don't have the issue at all in mine, also running Win7 Ultimate. I'm running 64-bit though, perhaps that makes a difference.

Does this make sense to any one?

    Dear Russ,

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry to hear that the issue is not resolved.

You can try the following steps as well

Click Start->Control Panel->Change the view to large icons->Click on Fonts folder

Please try to remove the following Fonts

    Helvetica and Helvetica Narrow

(Do this in Safe Mode) , now try to use Outlook and check.

As of now as there is no fix for the issue with your permission may I archive the case as not resolved. If you have any questions on this issue, please respond to this message so I may provide you with further assistance.

I have already sent the feedback about this to my supervisor & the design team. This will be prioritized and dealt with according the number of people who are facing this inconvenience. Your feedback is appreciated & it’s your feedback that helps us improve our products. Please logon the link below & submit your valuable feedback.

Yes it make sense. This message and the other one you posted from MS means there is a BUG with no known fix.

As with many bugs - it often doesn't affect everyone..

Apparently the person thought it might maybe help you. I assumed you did it while you were chatting with the person.

They're only fonts, and are easily reinstalled. If it was me, I'd delete them, they must have a good reason for suggesting it.

For the record, I have the same problem with Outlook 2010 (running under Windows 7 Professional).

However, I have discovered a work-around (ast least it seems to be working for me) that may suit some people. If I use the 'Delete' button from the Quick Access Toolbar the problem does not occur. That is, when deleting the last message from the Inbox this way it does also disappear from the reading pane.

Hopefully the problem will be addressed in a Service Pack soon though.

If I have all folders set to conversation view including the junk folder everything works fine
