    Detach VHD when done?

    Quick question about the Windows 7 system image backup:

    If I attach the image as a virtual hard disk (VHD) to extract a few files, when I am done, is the best practice to detach the VHD? Or is it better to leave it attached for recovering individual files in the future?
    My equipment:

    Acer Aspire AX3300-U1322 Desktop (sorry didn't build this time!), 4Gb RAM, AMD Athlon II quad core CPU

    Detach it. That way there is no risk of something accidentally getting deleted or corrupted.
