Office 2003 - Error 1402. Setup can't open the registry key

Folks, due to Microsoft Update giving me an error for Office and Excel patches
Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB982133)
Microsoft Office 2003 (KB982311)

Error Code: 0x57A

I've removed Microsoft Office 2003 and trying to reinstall it but receive this error. Is there a setting in the registry I need to change? I did not change anythiing to cause this.

Is your XP user profile set to be an Admin?

I'm logged in as Admin.

You might have to use regedit to take ownership of that key and give yourelf the required permissions.

Set 3 names to Everyone and gave access and it worked. How did that get changed on me? That's why the updates were failing. Just checking for updates now.
