Just what the world needs. Another propitary video codec that must be bought and used with Microsoft's browser. Thankfully IE9 will not work with XP and hopefully most site coders will keep their videos compatible with Firefox and Opera

Here's a bit of an update, it now looks like IE9 will support both H.264 and the newly released, free and open source, VP8. So it looks like there will be something for everyone

Too bad IE9 won't run on XP...Course XP is gonna have to die someday.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Nice to know. Now, what is VP8 and will Firefox support it ?
Either in the Firefox 4 due out late this year or in later versions ?
As to XP dying, I will keep it until forced to switch over. Mainly
since I can not see spending money to buy new versions of programs
for Windows 7 when existing programs do the job I need them to do fine.

VP8 is the codec that Google bought recently, and now, as expected, they have released it as open source. Firefox will absolutely support it, as will Chrome.
