Resolved [RESOLVED] Change IE8 from dialup to cable

I use Firefox with Time Warner cable. When I try to use IE7 or 8, it says I am offline and, if I try to connect, it wants to use dialup. There seems to be no way to specify the cable network.

What do you see Jerry when you go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections tab? You should be able to change that there to "never dial a connection" and that will allow you to use your cable connection.

I had done that. Then clicked Setup. It says "Already connected to the Internet". Can't add a network because it already exists. If I click "Browse" it opens Firefox. However, your question made me wonder what will happen if I kill the cable connection. I'll try that now. Thanks

    Is FF the default browser?

If I understand this (??) maybe you should go into Tools on IE8 and uncheck Work Offline?

Bless You!!! Unchecking Work Offline did it. I guess I'm so used to misleading error messages that I didn't believe it. Anyway, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I had tried changing default browser with no results.

BTW, Work Offline is under File on IE8.
