Resolved [RESOLVED] 22" Monitor - Icons

I have just installed a 22" monitor and the icons on my desktop are a little squished. I had a 19" previously and they were fine. My screen resolution is 1024 x 768. I have attached a screen shot which I hope you can see what I mean.
Everything else seems a little squished also. Is there a way to make these icons not looked squished. I do not want the big icons.
    Thanks for your help.

These days, the recommended resolution for most 22" monitors is either 1680x1050 or 1920x1080. (The 23" I'm on right now is 1920x1200).

What is the brand and model# of your monitor?

Hmmm... can't seem to find that "W4220T" model#.

The first two digits in an LG model# appear to indicate the size (diagonally). See this example on LG's site:
    http://www.lg.com/us/computer-produc...cd-monitor.jsp

If you meant "W2240T", according to BestBuy it should be set at 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect ratio):

Doc, I did mean W2240T, I had a typo. Since you said it should be set at 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect ratio): how do I change the ratio? I just checked in display setting and I cannot get to 1920 x 1080. I can get to 1600 x 1200 and next is 2048 x 1536.

You may have to update the drivers for your video adapter. Check Device Manager to see what adapter your system has, and post the info here.

I think this is what you asked for: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 let me know if this is right.
I believe this is not a separate video card it is part of the motherboard.

In the mean time I updated the driver. I saw the last one was dated 2005. It is now 1/11/2010 and is version 6.14.11.9621. It does not seem to have made any change.

It is possible that the 6100 does not support the desired resolution (without modifying the .inf file for the driver). You might try downloading the monitor driver also.

I did some searching today and found out that I will need a new video card as my current one does not support the resolution needed. I did download the drivers for my current one but that did nothing.
So I am now looking up video cards suitable to handle the resolution needed.

Thanks to every one who has replied.
