It would be supplied by Windows Update if there was one. Why do you feel that it needs an update?

I'm wondering the same thing. I wouldn't rely on system restore as your only recovery method. Do you have another backup program like Acronis True Image?

I know there are many System Restore boosters here @ VDr but I am not one of them. On my personal machines, I always disable it. Disc imaging is superior is every way.

I agree with you that Disk imaging is great, but how many images you need to produce every week? month? forever?
system restore is for a day to day business and it helped me a lot even though it had failed to recover the system from a serious crash.

I image at least monthly and additionally as my home systems might require. One PC takes 7 minutes and the other about 15 minutes. (Now at work, the approach is very different than what I do at home on a casual basis.)

One of my beefs with System Restore is that average users believe it's a cure all (we can probably blame Microsoft for that by using that name for it.) It's far, far from a cure all. MS improved it in Windows 7 but it's still not THE answer like imaging...

True, Sys Restore isn't the answer to everything, but I've found it to be a very useful tool over the years. I use a combination of both, and so can be reasonably confident that one or the other will work, if I ever need them.
