    Exclamation Code 19 Registry problem...

I'm helping a neighbor with his computer.....he had tons of trojans, viruses, rogues, especially that vicious Security virus 'remover' that is actually a virus itself and disables your .exe files and insist you buy it before it will remove itself (I hate that thing!). I used Malwarebytes and Combofix to get rid of all he had on there. Success....its now a clean machine, BUT after rebooting It will not automatically connect with the internet like it did before. Now it gives a 'Code 19' message saying registry is damaged.
Combofix gave a summery of stuff when it finished but I cannot remember where it put the 'Restore point' (old age sets in!). Any help out there, computer angels??

Open System Restore by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.* Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Checked System Restore.....there was no Restore Points. Don't know if the owner just never set one or if that was damaged too.

I'd do a clean reinstall. In the long run, it's likely to be far quicker and easier that trying to fix all the problems after an infection that severe. And you can never be quite sure that you've got everything.
