HP Monitor (No input Signal) Monitor going to sleep

i just bought a brand new hp desktop computer with a HPw1858 LCD monitor screen. i didn't have any problems with restarting it until i installed my new graphics card nevida 8800. but now i have trouble getting the monitor to play. however i've found one solution. if i press source repeatedly..after a certain amount of time i can normally get it to come on. or if the desktop's main power button turns orange i can just tap it once if the computer goes to sleep. but does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? since it works half the time, but has trouble coming on for the first half?

Did the PC originally have onboard graphics? If so, have a look in the BIOS Setup and see if the onboard can be disabled. You'll usually find it in "Integrated Peripherals".

Did you upgrade your PSU when you added the 8800? The stock HP PSU probably does not meet the minimum requirements of the 8800.

Which driver set are you using? There was a problem with the 196.75 driver set.

You didn't tell us what OS you are running, but I'm guessing Win7.

Go to Control Panel - Computer Management - Device Manager and look at the Display Adapter properties. It should have a driver number in there.

If you can't figure that out, you might be able to run dxdiag from the Start button search box. I haven't tried it on a Win7 box but that should work too.
