    Exclamation Playing MP4s

I have this problem with my Gateway laptop computer with Windows XP. Whenever I try to play a MPG4 video from movie or a video podcast. It's always jerky and it doesn't run smooth like a mpeg or wmv. What can I do to solve this problem? I have tried to defraging my computer and get rid of spyware and all that. Nothing seems to work.

    What can I do?

If you're still using WMP, that's the first mistake.

My computer doesn't have a lot of space on it. I have a lot of videos, files and software that I need on here. I'm downloading the VideoLAN as I am writing this. I don't play the MPG4s on Windows Media Player. I try to do it on Quicktime, which I have the problem.

Uninstall quicktime and use the alternative.

    Bunches easier on your computer.

I tried installing the Quicktime Lite. It eliminated little of the lag, but I think I should stick with the video lan and play the video podcasts on that.

Video lan does pixelate the videos but it runs smoother.

Well now you are pushing the computer hardware limits it seems to me.

XP does best with 1 GB of memory and then go into bios and increase the dedicated amount of ram for the video card, if possible. What I found works best for laptops.

Post the make and model of the laptop

BIOS, also called setup, basic info.

Go > Srart > r-click My computer and select Properties. Please post the amount of ram listed.
