    Resolved [RESOLVED] Wireless Mouse

    Hiya

Awhile back, I bought a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard package. Lately, the mouse is starting to malfunction, but the keyboard is fine. I want to buy a new wireless mouse...but will it work with the current wireless reciever that came with that original set...assuming my replacement mouse is also Microsoft?

Essentially....does MS have a single frequency for all these wireless devices...or will I have to use a seperate reciever for each peripheral? Would hate to have to have two recievers occupying two USB ports.

Before you buy a new mouse, have you tried a new battery?

Batteries are new. The malfunction is in the left-click button....it's wear and tear over time and the occasional drop on the floor. It will miss a click, or stick on...or do a double-click on it's own once in awhile. Too many games of Age of Empires I think....

If you have a can of electronics cleaner, a spray might fix it.
I'm not ignoring your original question. I don't know the answer

The new mouse will come with a receiver which should work beside the other....You can test to see if you can use the old one.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

I have used new MS mice with older MS receivers, and vice versa, with no problems at all AFAIK there is a specific frequency for mice and keyboards.

Just an update to confirm. Seperate MS wireless optical mouse purchased....and working fine. Had to hit the connect button on the reciever and the one on the mouse....and good to go.

Now when my British Redcoats are under attack by those ruthless troops of Frederick the Great, I won't suffer undue casualties because I was unable to properly command my troops.

BTW, just for completeness, the usual frequency for mice is 27MHz. But there are a few new ones around that are on 2.4GHz.
