Resolved [RESOLVED] Acronis Drive Cleaner not Working

Hi All, .......... Acronis True Image Home 2009, build 9796 does not appear capable of performing one of its tasks, DriveCleanser under Cleanup utilities. I'm trying to wipe a hard disc drive or even a USB drive and the process takes me back to the starting point, I follow the procedure from "Start Acronis DriveCleanser" through selecting the drive to "Proceed" and the and the next screen that appears is the Start screen. Have any Acronis users experienced this problem and does it have a solution? Thank you.

shrdlu--Have you had a look in the Acronis TI Home manual?
    http://us1.download.acronis.com/sl/G...2009_ug.en.pdf
Or in the Drive Cleanser manual?
    http://s4u.download.acronis.com/sl/I...r6.0_ug.en.pdf
I have not used this feature of TI, so have no direct experience.

Jim, ............. Thank you for your reply. The first link had a one paragraph (3.7) discussion of DriveCleanser with resons for using a drive cleaner, but no useful information. The second link had a much more lengthy discussion, two chapters and an appendix. There was much more detail here about the install and use. However, it appears that Acronis requires a separate CD which has to be downloaded. by registered owners (which I am) before the drive, partition, or file wiping can occur. The second link also had pictures of screens that are not part of my DriveCleanser. Bummer!

jdc2000, .......... I downloaded and installed Eraser several times before your reply. Each time when I tried to run it I received that error message that said something was wrong and wanted to send information to Microsoft. Thank you for your input.

Train, ........... I tried to use DBAN several times and when I opened DBAN, it opened with Acronis. So frustrating. I never could get away from Acronis which as you can see above didn't help. I tried to find another "Open with" but my selections were limited. If you have any further thoughts about how to overcome this blockage, I'll be glad to try them. Thank you for your interest.

Make the bootable DBAN cd, then boot to the cd. It does not run in windows as it has its own operating system on it.
Plus disconnect all hdds except the one you want to work with.

Hate to have you goof and wipe the wrong hdd.

Train, ............. Got it. Your comment about DBAN self booting outside of Windows is what did the job. Once I made a proper CD, DBAN performed as advertised. Thank you for your help and also the cautionary comment.
