Hi, Jones,
When I download the file, about halfway through, the connection shuts down. When I restart, the download sometimes continues but the downloaded file is corrupted. I have installed Connection Keeper but that has not helped. I use Firefox with Download Statusbar which indicates the absence of the connection.
Hi Train,
I use CCleaner . Which of the following should I clean out:
- Cookies
-Download History
-Internet Cache
-Internet History
-Saved Form Information?
Where is the location of the Temp internet folder?
Thanks for your time.

The Internet Cache listing in CCleaner is the Temp internet folder.
The TIF is located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
And the Local Settings folder is a hidden folder.

I've read a number of complaints recently that Norton a/v is interfering with downloads. Are you using Norton?
Try temp disabling whichever a/v you use and see if that makes a difference.

I have used CCleaner but when I attempted downloading of Avira Update of 30MB it stalled. I am using DownThemAll; it also stalled but I pauses and resumed. At 26% it stopped again. I will resume as many times as possible and find out later whether the download would not be corrupted. Let's wait and see. Is there anything more I can do?

Avira fromm here?
http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiV...dlPid=11012914
And you could be infected and that is what is stopping the avira download.

Thanks, Train,
I have been able to update Avira. I guessed the problem to be coming from the internet connection so I installed Free Download Manager.
I was able to download the update for manual installation. FDM is a great dowmload manager and large files are no more a problem.
Nevertheless, I am scanning my system with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPER AntiSpyware and then with Dr. Web CureIt
Thanks, I think the matter is resolved.
