Refresh???
Hello:
Just a minor annoyance, but when I am posting a reply to a response to a thread I have started it often takes me a while to put everything together, get the spelling right, etc. and hunt & peck my way to complete my message. When I click POST I get this message ~you are not authorized~ and that I should REFRESH and LOGON. I have never figured out how to REFRESH and I am already logged on. So when I log off to log back on I loose everything I have typed (I am afraid it may happen now and this message will disappear). I'll give it a try.
Straighten me out please!

Type in Word first and kill two birds with one stone.

I've never seen this. What are the browser, OS, involved, and is remember me checked and cookies enabled? Because these forums never log me out. I am perpetually logged in unless I dump cookies.

Approx how long does it take you to type once you click the New Thread Button?
EDIT: I just did a test...I clicked the new thread button waited for 18 minutes - came back and was able to successfuly post.

Refresh question
Steve:
Actually I have never been timed out while submitting a new thread. But I have experienced the problem on a number of occasions while writing a reply. I have always been logged in when this happens.
I am using an HP Pavilion with Windows Vista. How can it be that I am the only one having this problem? Perhaps I am screwing up somewhere.
Thanks

Hey Steve:
I have recently begun to type my replies in Word and then pasting them in. I started doing this after I lost some long, drawn out replies only to loose them and having to try and reconstruct them from the beginning. I guess I was just just wondering why there is a 'timed out' type feature that keeps me from typing up the entire message once I sign in. Maybe if I learn how to 'refresh', as I am told to do, I could avoid having to log and then log in again.
Thanks, notnoid

Another option would be to use quick reply. I would be very surprised if you had the same issue with that.

How about the setting button - did you do that?

Try clearing your cookies, or at least the VirtualDr one. There is something wrong if the forum is logging you out like that.
Nick.

I use Mozilla Firefox. I started typing this [my second attempt to replay] about 15 minutes ago. Anyway I typed in part of the original reply and the stopped and visited another Virtual Dd. forum. When I returned to this forum my initial message was gone so I am retyping it now. Should I not move around the forums while working on a rely?
Thanks,
PS, I use Firefox Mozilla

If you use a new tab or page, that will not happen. If you used the same page, what happened to you happens to me.

I've never used Firefox long enough for that to happen, so it's hard to test. I use it just to check that our sites display OK in it.
