    Shutting Down

ill get all the specs of the machine when i get home:

been having problems with my main rig for a while now. mostly due to nvidia drivers and vista64.

about 2 or so months ago, i started noticing that if i left my pc on overnight it would be shut off in the morning.
when i would boot up it would go to the 'your computer did not shut down properly would you like to boot into safe mode, etc, etc'. i would select normal and just boot to the desktop.

the interval that the computer would stay on has gradually decreased to the point where i would turn it on and sometimes it would shut off within an hour of turning it on.

two or three days ago, when i would boot up i would get a message that says my memory timings had been 'altered or modified' (i cant remember the exact name of the message) and then it gave me the option of going into the bios settings and resetting my memory timing.

a day ago, i can boot it up and now it will stay on for a few moments before it just shuts down.

im thinking of removing a stick of memory or moving them around.

i think i may need a new motherboard.

any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance

Heat and Failing Power Supplies are the two big culprits to random shutdowns.

Try monitoring your temps for a bit. These are all excelent freeware utilities. I particularly like Real Temp and HWMonitor. OCCT is superb for stress testing - if the PC can handle that, it can handle anything

    Real Temp

    HWMonitor

    OCCT

    PC Wizard

    Speedfan
