[RESOLVED] DVD only plays on 1 of 3 dvd players

Not a clear title...let me explain.

I have an LG 'super multi' dvd player/burner installed on this comp. It will play many dvd's just fine but on some dvd's, I get the error oxcoocd1163 digital copyright protection.

My neighbor loaned me a couple of Western dvd's and neither will play...I get the copyright protection message.

I have the XP codec pack 2.5.0 installed...I think this is the most complete pack...could be wrong.

Also...I have Media Player Classic and also WMP...and I get the same result either way: will play dvd's just fine...but just doesn't like Westerns.. !

Now...I have tried to play this dvd on two other comps that I have...both XP machines...and this dvd will play on one of them ( also has an LG player ), but not the other ( a Lite-On ). I believe that I have the same codec packs on the other two machines...would need to check that to be sure.

Vista - try right click and choose run as administrator.

But...don't have Vista on any of these...is there a way to run as Admin. on XP?

What codec do you have installed?

Train...I have XP Codec-Pack 2.5.0 installed on this comp.

Do the video cards have anything to do with this? The only comp that will play this western movie dvd has an older AGP card.

This comp has on-board graphics.

Train...checked that support info....this comp is already set up that way.

Okay...the comp that will play the dvd has K-Lite Codec-Pack 3.6.5

I will try that pack on this comp and see...

gotta go pick up my granddaughter from pre-k school...be back later...maybe this other codec pack will work...

Yeee Haww...

K-Lite XP Codec-Pack 5.6.1 is what I needed.

Now I can watch those Westerns...!

I'll update the other machines as well.
