    New issue

Been a long time, hope you guys dont mind me dropping by

This is a remote PC I've been helping clean up.

The initial problem (popups, memory hangs, etc) was resolved using mbam - sorry but I did not take the details down, but I guess the logfiles are still there if needed. Their AV was out of date, so uninstalled Symantec and installed AVG, then ran full AV scan which brought up one virus (c:\avenger\rarype32.exe). Have now run Superantispyware and Adaware also. AVG picked up on a few trojans (FakeAlert.OP, Generic16.AGZE and Agent_r.QI) during the scans, so thought I'd post the HJT log for your keen eyes...

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
    • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
    • Close any open browsers.
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

NOTE 1. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
NOTE 2. If Combofix asks you to update the program, always do so.

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
    • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
    • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

Apologies Broni, there has been a change to the AV software (AVG replaced by AntiVir). I have not run combofix as I thought it more prudent to sent the latest HJT log first:

    HJT log header is missing.
Good idea with AV switch. Did you run AVG Remover: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools to make sure, AVG leftovers are gone?
I still need Combo log and fresh HJT afterwards.

    Uninstall Combofix:
Go Start > Run [Vista users, go Start>"Start search"]

    c:\program files\Symantec
    c:\program files\Common Files\Symantec Shared

    ================================================================

    1. Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)

    6. Click on My Computer under Scan.
    7. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.

We'll have to delete couple of Outlook Express folders, so if you have any important mail there, save it somewhere else, before you proceed with my next step.
Those folders will be recreated, when you restart OE.

    Please download OTM

    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click OTM to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    Code:
    :Processes

    :Services

    :Reg

    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Movedwindow (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
    • Close OTM and reboot your PC.

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Verify your Java version here: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
    Update, if necessary.
Uninstall all previous Java versions, through Add\Remove (Programs & Features in Vista).

    ===============================================================

Disable TeaTimer, as it'll interfere with the cleaning process:
Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon.
    Click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
    TeaTimer closes.
NOTE. If on re-boot, Spybot inquires about registry change(s), allow it.

    ===============================================================

Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.

    1. Open HijackThis.

    2. Close all windows, except for HijackThis.

    3. Put checkmarks next to the following HijackThis entries:

    - R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
    - O2 - BHO: NCO 2.0 IE BHO - {602ADB0E-4AFF-4217-8AA1-95DAC4DFA408} - (no file)
    - O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {7FEBEFE3-6B19-4349-98D2-FFB09D4B49CA} - (no file)
    - O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'SYSTEM')
    - O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'Default user')
    - O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe
    - O4 - Startup: WKCALREM.LNK.disabled
    - O4 - Global Startup: Digital Line Detect.lnk.disabled
    - O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk.disabled
    - O4 - Global Startup: Kodak EasyShare software.lnk.disabled
    - O4 - Global Startup: KODAK Software Updater.lnk.disabled
    - O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk.disabled
    - O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
    - O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)

    4. You should also checkmark following entries (these are unnecessary startups; no actual programs will be removed):

    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IgfxTray] C:\WINDOWS\System32\igfxtray.exe
    - O20 - Winlogon Notify: !SASWinLogon - C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SASWINLO.dll

    5. Click on Fix checked button.

    6. Restart computer.

    7. Post new HijackThis log.
