Speeds slowed by Netgear GS108T smart switch

When I connect my computer directly to my Netgear GS108T gigabit smart switch, my internet surfing comes to a crawl. So bad that I can't even get a simple web page loaded. When I connect my computer directly to my Netgear GS108 gigabit switch, everything seems normal, with just a slight lag/delay. Any ideas why the GS108T would cause this slow down? Any suggestions would be helpful and I thank you in advance.

After more testing, the slowdown seems to happen with both switches independently: GS108 and GS108T smart switch. I wonder if this is a Netgear problem? Has anyone had or seen this problem before???

    If not done so already,
Double check settings in the switch.
    eg. Rate limiting, prioritizations...
    Cheers.

Interestingly enough, I have everything set to the default settings except for Port Mirroring on one port only and the IP address.

When I reboot the unit, the speed lasts for about 5 seconds and then it slows to less than dial-up. Sometimes it completely stalls. This is absolutely rediculous.

Netgear have some superb forums, you'll need to register before you can use them.

It's kind of hard to get to the site when you are getting less than 10K down.

Then I think all you can do then is start playing about with different combinations of your setup to see what works with what. There is a mismatch somewhere, by the sounds of it, but it isn't necessarily the Netgear components that are the problem. Sometimes you get components that won't play nicely together, for no obvious reason, and even networking gurus end up pulling their hair out over it

FWIW, I've used a GS108 for the last 4 years without ever having a moments problem with it.

    Turn off port flow control

You may have given up on this already, but if not (or for others with the same issue) ...

    (1) go to the GS108T web browser config and click on the switching options
    (2) click on the offending port (the one plugged into to your computer/switch/router with the slow connection) and change "Flow Control" to "Disable"
    (3) click apply

You should be good to go.

    Cheers
