Do I Have 32 Or 64 Bits?

Hello,

Stupid question, but I have no idea about it.
I have XP pro, SP3, How do I find 32 or 64 bit?

The reason I ask is, I have to update a video card, and there is different downloads for xp 32 bit and for 64 bit.

Right click "My Computer" chose Properties at the bottom of the list, and if it does not list 64bit as the Operating system, you have 32bit.

Question about you updating your video card. Why do you feel you need to install an updated driver? If the one you have is working correctly, there is no need to update the driver. If you are wanting to update the card, this would require you buying a new card and it wouldn't matter which OS bit you have because the cd usually comes with both types.

If it's XP Pro SP3, it's 32-bit. XP Professional 64-bit is based on the Windows Server 2003 core, so it follows the same Service Packs; latest is SP2, it can't have a SP3.

To add on photolady's comment on reasons to upgrade, make sure you get the right driver version. If your video card is an older model, it may have been moved into "legacy" mode by the manufacturer and get limited support or even none at all from the most recent driver version.

While holding down the [WinKey], (the key with the Windows Logo on it), press the [Pause/Break] key.

Then on the General tab:

• If you see:
  Microsoft Windows XP
  Professional x64 Edition
  you have the 64-bit version of XP Pro.
  
  
• If you see:
  Microsoft Windows XP
  Professional
  (nothing after the word "Professional"), you have the 32-bit version.
