[RESOLVED] Running hot

After installing a new CPU heat sink and fan in a friends Gateway M series laptop.( I used Artic Silver thermal paste) Everest(free edition)is reporting a CPU temp. of 69 Deg. "C". Is this too hot for this laptop or do gateways usually run this hot? I've been running it all afternoon without a shutdown while I updated everything. I don't know of a a way to get it cooler. Any ideas on that? Thanks.

Hi, Train. It has a Intel core Duo T7100 @ 1.89 GHz & 1.80 GHz. 32 bit system. Also 2o46 MB ram.

Temperature Limit 100 Celsius degrees

Then Toshiba has this to say about it.
Max Operating Temperature 95.0 °F

So with 95 C being the upper limit, I would definately check the power settings, just to be on the safe side.

What program did you use ti get the temps?

I used an older version of Everest. Got over at majorgeeks.

OK Train, I D/L'ed pcwizard and now I'm getting CPU temps: Core 1=25 deg. C, Core 2=28 Deg. C. So all is well. When I took the temps the first time, using Everest, the CPU was working hard downloading updates. That might have been the reason for the high temp reading. Thanks for your help. Now, on to the next problem. But I'll have to post it over in the Windows Vista forum.
