    CLDR is MISSING

    First Off.

    MERRY XMAS to you ALL

Long time since I been here. Learnt a lot off of you lot.
BUT! I got a strange prob that I not ever come across before.
FIRST, let me explain.----OS is XP Pro.
I started to have BSODs for no apparent reason with all different kinds of messages. So I been trying a go back kind of thing.
First I did a FORMAT n installed Windows 7. Not a bad OS is that. Still was haveing BSODs. Went back to XP Pro because my Scanner had no drivers.
So I then did a Memtest and it passed. Then I did a Reg fix (incase it was reg). PC would go great for hours, even days, then BSOD. Then my Lightroom would quit in middle of something. Then my PSCS3 started doing same thing.
Thought yet again it was memory, but all tests proved OK.
So I did a CPUID-CPUZ and had this in RED.. Frequ 3013.8MHz (200.92*15)
    Ram Speed 376.7MHz @4.4.4.12 core speed 3015.3MHz
Multi x15.0 Bus speed 200.93MHz Rated FSB 1004.66MHz. 4.4.4.12.22..2.1V This was done 2 years ago without any probs.
So I thought the best thing to do in case Ram was playing me up somehow is to go to BIOS and go back to Defaults.
    now @ 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8V
Since defaults, at Startup I get the CLDR is Missing, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Still could not get to desktop, so after hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete I hit F8 which brings me to the Start up order, I choose my HDD and it gos to Desktop.
HDD is choosen in BIOS. I cant get into SAFE MODE with F8 I have to keep switching PC on noff to get it show up, then it dont always get me in there.
Also this stupid 24" monitor does not show the words at bottom of screen or left of screen when in Safe Mode or Diagnostics so can not read if I should press f1 or f2 or f8 or anything.
HOPE you followed me . lol
    Over to you lot then.

Is that the Xmas Spirit because you not got a Clue. Only gives me a Google Type bar as I already got and used.
been there, Done That, Found sod all that I understand.
Funny thing just happened. I just switched this PC back on and it started up first time with no problems. I did Uninstall Netframework 3.5 SP1 before closeing down at 3pm and going out to cook me 92 year old dads dinner. Wonder if that was the problem. No doubt I shall find out as the night gos rappidly by.

You could try using BlueScreenView to see what is causing the BSODs. If MemTest passed, I'd check the motherboard for bad capacitors.

So far I'm able to start as Normal. Have downloaded SP2 as I might Uninstall SP3.
No BSODs YET! gona use my Lightroom for an hour or two to see if it Quits out on me as it has been doing.
Will let you know how it gos.
I got another question but will start a new thead for it.

I'd still recommend using BlueScreenView to see what executable was causing the problem. It looks at the minidump files created when you get a BSOD and reports the contents in a readable format.

That minidump tells me nothing. Certainly never tells me the causes of the BSODs.
Anyway, I uninstalled ALL my "Microsoft .NET Frameworks" and the darn updates to them, then I installed just ".NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1" which also installed 1.1 and problem went away. SOLVED. Unbelievable in it????
Still geting the BSODs every so often with the odd program closeing down on me for no reason. So next Uninstall is SP3 and reinstall SP2 ONLY. from there I shall stick to my usual policy of NEVER to UPDATE anything Microcrap wants you to do.
Then if it's still happening I will take out my IDE Caddy and DVDWriter. If it still happens I'll put them back in and take out my SATA Writer, then change my HDD n reinstall windows. If it keeps happening after that it then has to be my CPU. Temps are OK.
    Cheers for Helping.

UPDATE for you. As you know I SOLVED the above.
I took out my old NEC35400A DVDWriter and so far I have not had any BSODS. But my PSCS3 shuts down after 15 minutes of use.
Once I have (if it works, this will tell me if it's the mobo or psu) my ASUS K8N-E Deluxe up and running I shall Reformat my ASUS M2N-Sli Deluxe and try again.
After this I'll never Ever buy another Asus mobo. My OLD ABIT KG-Lite I gave to a friend is still going strong. Unbelievable.
