Ipod Nano hook up to Onkyo HT-S3100
I have a Onkyo 5.1 Home Theater System and I want to hook up my IPOD Nano 2nd generation. I do not want to purchase the optional docking station as it is costly at the present time.
I have an audio cable one end plugs into the IPod the other end as to plugs, one red and one white. Can this be done and which ports on the back of the receiver should I use?
Thanks for your help.

You can plug the ipod into any line level input.. tape input, CD or aux. Red is right (usually). Set the volume on the ipod to around half to save battery power if applicable.

Thanks for the reply. I have it plugged into tape input. I do get sound but only from the left and right front speakers. I am not sure why there is no sound from the Center or Rear speakers.

Is the IPOD Nano designed to drive more than two separate speakers, (a left and a right, in stereo)?

You'll only get 5.1 sound if the amplifier can simulate it. Any player with left and right outputs only is standard stereo/2 channel.

Thanks for your replies. I have changed a few settings on the tuner and I now have good sound coming from the rear speakers as well.
